I am also reminded how permanent the pigments in cerulean and thalo green are! I got a bit carried away with cerulean--just love that word--on the stern of the boat. I washed some of it out and hope it will mute a bit more as I add the surrounding shades.
Thalo green is a color I don't often use. It's an odd color--sort of an unreal green--but I rather like a tint of it for the boat. The trick will be not laying down too much too fast. There will be no scrubbing it out! and I don't want this to end up in the abandoned heap for Liza's sake!
On my feeble attempts at painting, I noticed a lot of my stuff looked blue. I've since read that blue is a powerful color and should be used sparingly. I also had problems with perspective. So, aside from mixing colors poorly and nothing sizing up, I was sorta okay! (If you were durnk.)

ReplyDeleteThe boat color is sort of incongruous with the overall tone of the painting, which is why I like it! Can't wait to make it peel!
DeleteEverything is darkening up -- some of that contrasting going on. I like the darker, non-natural green. It lets you know that the boat is the subject. This is becoming more interesting. Again, color is doing its thing.
