An Unsupervised Blog

I know it appears as though I have abandoned this blog—I haven’t, not really. Okay, well, maybe I’ve neglected it a bit. The truth is, I haven’t done a whole lot of painting these days, but I have been working on art projects. I simply haven’t had the time drive to post about it. So rather than leave my poor blog completely unsupervised, I thought I’d post a little about what I have done.

As you may know, I also do some writing. In fact, I plan to publish my second novel sometime this spring. Because I am self-publishing this one, I have a whole lot more liberty regarding the interior content, that is, interior art. While hoping I don’t push the boundaries of adult fiction into the juvenile, I can’t resist adding some black and white line-art. To facilitate this—and because I love gadgets—I bought a Wacom Bamboo tablet and stylus to supplement my art supplies. I haven’t really gotten the knack of anything elaborate yet, but black and white line art seems a good way to learn how to use the device. Here are a few samples of what may turn up in Spilled Coffee, a novel about coming of age...again...

    1. You can say 'amazing' as often as you like, Glenn--I really never tire of it! :)

  2. It looks great! So you're going to publish in paper only? Will you be doing an ebook as well?

    1. I plan to publish in paper and also as many e-book formats as I can manage, probably Kindle first. I'm not sure how well the interior art will translate into e-book format, though.

    1. It won't be anything elaborate, but I'm having fun messing around with some ideas. Now if I can just get used to computer-generated drawing!

    1. Hi Julia. The drawings are fun to mess around with and I do suppose they constitute 'art'--they seemed like a good thing to post since my poor art blog seems to be living up to its name!

      And, Thanks for stopping by.

  5. I had no idea this was a blog too. How did I ever miss this? Love this artwork. Sooooo cool. Especially the bike. I had the exact same one with pink and purple streamers hanging from the handles.

    1. Well, as you can see, it has been sorely neglected over here! So, if you didn't know about this blog, how did you find it?

  6. Oh wow...I don't think I ever saw your Art Blog JB...you are so talented! I am so impressed with your bi-talents in both writing and painting. I enjoyed your post...I'm glad I am not the only one who bites off more than they can chew...in that you are so busy doing so many things...I am just blown away with your talents. Your art work is really wonderful. I too like writing and painting...(watercolors) but I find it difficult to do both...I have not been blogging regularly and since I finally got around to posting something today, I wanted to visit some of my blogging friends...I am so glad I did....because I discovered your Art Blog.

    1. Hi Donna! I'm so glad you stopped by--and a little embarrassed that this blog has been left all but abandoned! I really should post something art-wise--I guess I've been preoccupied. I think we start blogs with the best of intentions, for reasons that change and shift over time. I find it hard to keep up with just my writing blog, but it would be fun to post here every now and then.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your kind words. :-)
