Grass & Water
Painting the grass has been challenging. I usually work from the foreground and make my way toward the back, but the grass is sparser in places which means all the water needs to be in place before I can get too detailed with the grass. Aside from that, I've had a bunch of other things going on, so the painting has been slow-going. At any rate, I thought I'd post what I have so far--yes, it's mostly just grass and water! I hope the difference is obvious...
I love the detail. The darkness under the pier, grass popping up out of the water, the number of different shades, the way the ocean gets dark near the horizon - excellent!

DeleteYes, the grass is taking definition. And the water to the right of the boat, the port side if you were on the boat, looks so sparkling in the sun. You have the touch of using the light so naturally.

Thanks Jerry! I did mess with the lighting a little on this. I suppose I'll post the image I'm working from soon. You'll see that I messed with the sky a bit, which changes the reflections in the water...

ReplyDeleteWell, aside from a few finishing touches that I won't be able to resist, the water is pretty much done...now, to work on the grass...and the boat!
