Troubled Mints

I know I'm not the only one who has a hard time in winter. Every day feels like a struggle. But sometimes, just one silly little thing can put a smile on my face.

I've been enjoying Altoids Curiously Strong Peppermints since back in the early '80's when it seemed the only place you could get them was through the Vermont Country Store catalog (I think they were curiously stronger back then, but that could be my imagination).

Yesterday, when I opened a new tin, this is what I found...

Just knowing there is a home for Troubled Mints* puts my mind at ease...perhaps then, there is also a place for me...

* I think Altoids may acutally be having a little fun with the 'troubled' Royal Mint...

  2. I showed it to a friend who didn't see the humor in it. "What's funny about that?" she asked.

I guess not everyone imagines all those mints behind paper, crammed in a box, wrestling around...

Can't you just hear them...'Get off me...' or 'Quit touching me' or 'I'm so much stronger than you' or 'I never knew my father...'

  3. I've never stopped to consider that hassles mints go through. Indeed -- I need to stop complaining.

  4. Oh yes, Jerry...The life of a mint must be very stressful, especially if curiously strong!

  5. I just opened the box and found the paper saying "home for troubled mints" LOL!! I thoughtI should perhaps google it becuase one never knows if perhaps it was a fake box and could be poisoned! Yea, a bit paranoid here.

    I think it's really funny :)

  6. Anonymous, If the tins have been poisoned, well, they haven't affected me yet! (that I'm aware of, though that could explain all my crazy dreams lately, hehehe)

Blogger stats records what Googled phrases direct traffic to my blog. I have had more people, from all over the world, visit my blog, Search words: "Home for Troubled Mints"
I find that as amusing as the idea of a home for trouble mints, lol.

And, there's a message at the bottom (which i didn't discover for a week). I won't spoil it for you. :)

Thanks for actually leaving me a note--that makes my day! Us folks who appreciate the dry/odd humor need support, too :)

  7. Hilarious! I'm a fan of Altoids too, not because I particularly like them but because I adore offering them to other people... "Care you for a curiously strong mint?"

  8. Lisa, that's funny--that's exactly the phrase I use when offering them!
My sister tells me that her latest tin paper makes reference to 'sticking it in your mint hole' or something...must be a conspiracy to make Americans scratch their heads an say 'huh...'

  9. I saw the "Home For Troubled Mints" today and thought I better google this, maybe I'll win a prize or something. It made me strongly curious. Oh well! Just a little something different, it's nice to have a change Eh? Now every one who got this or another message in their mints will be looking for more messages, kinda like we did with Bazooka gum or the prize in Cracker Jacks.

  10. Ha! That's funny! Actaully, I think the message must be part of a series--my sister in Virgina got one that said something to the effect of 'stick it in your pie hole,' lol! :)

  12. Ha! Don't panic! The mints can't hurt you! Just be glad you didn't get the one that says 'stick it in your mint hole'!

...and remember--some things just don't make sense. If you try to make sense of it, you could end up in a home for troubled mints! :)
