Even though I've done a painting similar to this one, it was so long ago that I don't remember exactly how I approached all those facets of glass. This one is a little larger, and good thing! My eyes are that much worse these days (go figure). As I go along, I'm finding that the best approach is not to focus on one area for too long, and keep reminding myself that it always takes shape in time.
I love the lace.
ReplyDeleteLiza, I actually think the lace will be more of a challenge than the glass. I used to know what sort of lace it is--perhaps you know...
ReplyDeletei kinda like all the shades of gray and how they accent each other,,,
ReplyDeleteGlenn, I can't wait to get all the other subtle colors in there, but essentially it will be mono-or-duo-chromatic. (not sure if duochromatic is a real word--but two-toned, at any rate!)
ReplyDeleteYep, there's a reason I've never drawn/painted anything made of glass that was more complex than a pair of spectacles. I admire your courage/madness, and look forward to seeing this piece progress.
ReplyDeleteNate, I suppose there are reasons why I feel compelled to paint glass like this, and it doesn't take much speculation on my sanity...I too am looking forward to seeing how this piece progresses--I can tell you right now, it will be slow progress...
ReplyDeleteI didn't occur to me that there would be reflections in the glass. But of course. That is what makes it glass. And there are darker reflections of the shadow. Yep -- stating the obvious....but they weren't obvious to me before I saw it.
ReplyDeleteOh, and wait till you see the photo I'm working from! Then you'll REALLY see :)
ReplyDelete(I'd post it now, but then you'd be comparing and realize how far I have to go).
