Well, I decided it's time to update my watercolor Website, J.B.Chicoine.com, to accommodate my upcoming novel. Uncharted won't be released until October, but it will probably take me that long to relearn my Web design software. In addition to that novel, I have others I plan to publish, so I may as well take advantage of having a Website with my name and combine my "artistic" endeavors. Anyway, I'm going to incorporate the header I made for my writing blog (which I painted here a while back).
I'll use the above painting for the Author half the page header... and start a new one for the Watercolorist half--something along the lines of the watercoloring arrangement to the right. But I like the oak and post setting of the Reading and Writing scene. So, below is the drawing I've come up with. I took a photo of a new arrangement, flipped it horizontally with my graphics program and messed with the perspective a little. I'll keep the background light and abut the two paintings, end-to-end; the dark contrasting with the light.

That's the plan, anyway.
Wait a minute. You are flipping things with your graphic program....isn't that cheating? What would Rembrandt say? (Did you know there is some kind of structure behind your paint brushes in the sketch? Maybe your flipping program went haywire.)
ReplyDeleteI look forward to you jumping back in to your art. And I like the idea of a light painting next to the dark one. It's kind of, you know, artistic.
I'm not sure what Rembrandt would say, Jerry. Even if we were contemporaries, I think he probably wouldn't find out on account of him and me not running in the same circles.
DeleteAs for my paintbrush structure--well, I arranged them the way they are. It was quite a trick to get them to stand where I wanted. And wait till you see the colors--I had get them properly juxtaposed. Very tricky indeed. I think I may have tried to use too many...
Aww, cool! I'm so excited to watch your process! I am excited to watch this one. I like that you will have two different headers that carry a similar feel.
ReplyDeleteHa! Michelle--I'm looking forward to my progress, too! I know that once I really get going on the painting end, it won't take long to complete. Now I just need to get busy. Hopefully, the time spent will be worth it.
DeleteIn theory, the different yet similar sides of the header should look good, but, well, we'll see...I was even thinking of using my self-portrait and splitting the background--half black and half plain watercolor paper...might be overkill...
amazing,,,
ReplyDeleteSomehow, I knew you'd say that, Glenn,,,
DeleteI love your writing header...I'll look forward to watching the progress on the art side!
ReplyDeleteThanks Liza--I'm looking forward to progress too...;)
