Reading & Writing: The Wash—Sort Of

Technically, this isn’t exactly a wash on account of the black India ink. After my recent ink mishap, I was a little nervous, but decided that I should lay the ink early on--that way, if I ruined it, I could easily start over without having invested a lot of time.

I'm happy to say, all went well…

  3. So far it looks great. I love the layers of wash you have already. I'm excited to see what your new header will finally be!

  4. Thanks Lydia! This is where painting reminds me a lot of writing; starting out with a sketch or vague premise and then adding those layers to give it depth...

  5. I didn't get a chance to vote on which photo to go with before you started, but in my estimation you picked the right one. It looks good so far, and I'm not just saying that because it's free of inky UFO blotches.

  6. Nate! I can't believe you'd bring up the U.F.You know--the traumatic thing of which I do not write/speak! (okay, that's not entirely true--I do speak and write of it more than is really necessary).
Though I am glad you approve of my choice...(and by the way, the background is one great big ink splotch!

  7. I approve. I don't know what I am approving, but it seems like a positive step. Lot's of blackness there, which I know was completely intentional.

Again we get to follow and try to understand the process.

  8. Jerry, thanks for assuming the big black splotch was intentional!

Tomorrow (Monday) I shall post again--hopefully it will look like yet more progress...:)
