Reading & Writing: Progress

I’ve been trying to pick away at this a little everyday for the past week or so, some days with more success than others. I’ve been insanely busy, getting ready for a big trip out east* and this has plummeted to a low priority.

The open page looks a bit muckier than the actual painting—not that you noticed... And, in posting it, I can see that I made more progress than I thought (which is another good reason to post these sequences!) At any rate, just so you won’t think I’ve dropped off the deep end, here’s a little update and a happy picture of where I’ll be spending the next little while!

I think I’ll take my paints with me—maybe I’ll have it finished for when I get back…

  1. Yes, Liza, It's wonderfully serene...it actually feels a lot like a mini-resort when I'm not running around. By the time I've gone through the rigamarole to get there, I really need it!

  2. You know I will miss you! I love that picture of your retreat. Sigh. :)

  3. You know I'll miss you too, Michelle. If there's two or three blogs I'll sneak a peek at when I have internet, one will be yours! Regardless, I'll be in touch! Just imagine me typing away in that spot! :)

  4. the amazing details. Shadows and especially the lenses of the spectacles.

  5. I know you're looking for the reflection of the window and treeline in those spectacles, aren't you, Glenn! :)

  6. Glenn beat me to it. My first thought was that the glass in the lenses looks like glass. How can anyone paint glass? Amazing.

I just found out that you are going into exile. Good for you and bad for me....for I will miss you.

  7. Hey Jerry--look at me, commenting from on the road--got to love hyjacked gas station internet!

...So, don't worry, I will be back--just won't be posting for a while. Just stare at those glasses a little longer...

  10. Did I scare you off, with all my art knowledge and stuff?

  11. Indeed, Jerry! You’ve intimidated my brush to the point that it simply won’t behave!

...Actually, today was the first day I wet my paper since my last post, (I know, that doesn't sound quite right) and all that wood grain is giving me a fit.

Hopefully I’ll have something to post next week. It’s so sweet of you to check in, though—it actually is motivating...Thanks :)

  12. Congratulations with the paper wetting. Remember: It's all in the wrist. Or the fingers. Depending on whether you are a wrist painter or a digit painter.

It feels so good having these technical discussions with you once again.

I hope your little sabbatical achieved its purpose and you're mentally refreshed.

  13. heheheh...Yes, actually, I am mentally refreshed, which is quite a feat for me--Must be in a manic phase or something :)

I'm definitely a digit painter--too much play in wrist movement. I painted today, and I think I may post on Monday. I think there are even deer running in reflection of the field in the glasses--you'll have to look at that.

Thanks for holding up your end of the techincal discussions--you actually do rather well for such an 'authority'!
